A Guide to Learning About Aquatic Safety

Kia ora bloggers! Last week in Te Ngahere we had a lady called Tracy from swim safe come in to teach us how to stay safe in the water. She taught us that there are five steps on staying safe on a boat. First you need to bring an emergency beacon so if disaster strikes you can get some help, next are flares so they know if you drift away from your last location they can see where you are using the flare, a radio tuned to channel 16 for the coast guard, before you sort out any of these you’re gonna need to check the weather in case of a storm & last but also the most important, WEAR A LIFE JACKET. So many people have died on a boat because they weren’t wearing a life jacket so they drowned, It’s just common sense! I made a DLO saying everything you need to do on a boat.
