Kia ora Bloggers! In Te Ngahere we have been writing some stories about those 4 kids stealing a car in Australia and driving to Grafton. Here is my draft
Twas a fine sunday morning and the birds were all singing. Possums were creeping and snakes were slithering. This morning was no different than another except for 4 children awake; not really sleeping. They crept out of their rooms those little munchkins. Into their living rooms they crept… An idea of greatness. To steal a car & drive to the beach for a day to remember. One of the boys, the mischievous of all, ran to his parents' room. His dad's keys he did steal. Outside they all met. Into the car they crept, turning it on with a twist of a key, off they go, as mischievous as can be.
So how are we gonna get petrol? Asked the youngest, a girl of 10 named AJ. We’ll have to steal it. Said her superior Harlem, Who’s gonna do it? NOT ME!! They all shouted making the driver swerve on the road. Alright. Zane you do it. He said. Fine but I’m not refilling the tank. He jumped out of the car as they slowed down and ran to the station, a gas can he did steal. Alright let's go. All over the news the story of their ride did spread. Four young children, through Aussie they sped.
In the next car over a family was riding. Talking with each other not even noticing… Mum, Can I please use my ipad now? Sure Franky wait… why is there a kid driving a Nissan Sport? Quick Paul, Call 000! The authorities were notified & started the chase, for a Nissan sport, driving away from this place.
Driving along they reached a place named Grafton, a car full of children, finding a place to go swimming. Once in the centre throughout the town they drove, although they were vigilant, they still didn’t realise that they were being tailed by Officer Dale, Chief Mikaire & Sergeant Kayden. Pull over and we won’t have to resort to brute force! Yelled Sergeant Kayden. Quick Jack, Lock the doors! Yelled Harlem. That’s it! Yelled Chief Mikaire. Break the window! Smash went the window when the baton collided with the glass of the Nissan Sport. Away they were taken back home to their family’s still to be questioned another day...
I think I did really well when I was trying to write my story using direct speech as well as writing it as a narrative. While I was writing I sort of went for the Dr Seuss approach to it like saying twas a fine sunday morning and all the possums were creeping. When I first heard of what happened I was really confused, whose car did they steal? Were they siblings or friends? We’ll never know!
Blog you later
