Cacti Maths (Summer Learning Journey)

Let’s imagine that you are given a cactus for your birthday. To keep it alive, you must give it 3 ml of water every day.
Over one full year, how much water will you need to give your cactus plant?

Firstly I would start off by finding how many days in a year, 365. so 3 ml x 365 days = 1095 ml, so in a year you would need to give your cactus 1 litre and 95 ml of water, (a litre is 1000 ml) , that's not even as much as a 2 litre milk bottle, Crazy right.

  1. Kia ora Jack,

I like that you compared the amount to a 2 litre milk bottle. It really doesn't seem like a lot of water to feed to a cactus over a whole year. I guess they are a desert plant so don't need too much nourishment. Do you have any plants at home? My Dad loves gardening and is currently trying to grow hydrangeas.

Talk to you later Jack :-) Keep up the awesome blog posts!
    Nga mihi, Georgia.
