Summer Learning Journey

Kia ora bloggers! The Summer Learning Journey is BACK! Taylor who is a commenter from the SLJ came in to talk to us about the SLJ and what the activities will be this year. This year the subject of the SLJ is Changemakers. We get to do activities like researching things about Stephen Hawking and Youtubers. I can’t wait for the SLJ to start this Summer! Hopefully I don’t fall down the summer slide (The Summer Slide is where you could be at 4 B in reading grades at the end of the year but then over the summer you could fall down to 2 P in reading). The Summer learning Journey is a blogging program where you can keep your grades to where they were. Blog you Later.

Eating Healthy

Kia Ora Bloggers!! This week in Te Ngahere we had Whaea Gina in. She talked to us about the different food groups there are and what they give us. Here is an animation I made.

We learnt that vegetables and fruit give you vitamins, dairy gives you calcium and more! Do you have any information on this subject and would you change my animation at all? Please comment down below. Blog you later!

The Beast of The Backyard

Kia Ora Bloggers! This week in Te Ngahere we have been writing 100 word stories because we have entered in a competition where we have to write a 100 word story. My story is about a boy playing in his backyard pretending that his cat is a lion while using his brother as a human shield. Here is my Story.

RAAAAAAR!!!!!! The beast tracking me down let out a roar. Luckily I had my Long Shield. As the Lion scratched my shield I heard someone yell, “OUCH!”. I didn’t have time to see who it was. What If they were hurt... not my fault, not my problem, right now my only problem is trying not to become human stake for this giant beast. RAAAR!!! Screamed the lion. I pushed My Shield at the lion, it didn’t care… Then I heard someone screaming, JONATHAN!!! Yelled mum, PUT YOUR BROTHER DOWN AND LEAVE THE CAT ALONE!! YOUR GROUNDED! Oops, It wasn’t Me!

I really like my story because at the end of it Jonathan gets in trouble by his mum and he tries to deny it was him by saying “It Wasn’t Me!” but he gets in trouble anyway. Blog you Later!

Tessellation

Kia Ora Bloggers! This week in Te Ngahere while the Yr 7 & 8’s were in Wellington the Yr 6’s did some Tessellation art. We learnt how to merge one shape together without gaps heaps of times to create a pattern. Here are my Tessellations.

This was very difficult at first because I didn’t know how to create a Tessellation but now it’s easy for me. I am definitely going to make some more Tessellations in the future. If you have any Tessellations you have made please put a link to them in the comments. Also if there is anything you would change with one of my Tessellations please tell me. Blog you Later.

Nothing...

Kia Ora Bloggers! This week in Te Ngahere we have been doing some writing. Paihia School is competing in a 100 Word only Challenge with Australian Schools. The teachers gave us a starter introduction for us to know what to do and then we got to create a story from it using only 100 Words! I was learning to limit how many words I use in one story while still making it good quality. Here is mine.

The noise had disturbed me, i’d shot upright in bed. After taking a breath, I leapt onto the smooth boards of my floor and had a peek… What I saw surprised me. A glowing ball was singing a weird song. A Creepy Melancholy Tune? Then the ball rushed away from me as I flew through the roof. I looked down to see a man with a knife. I felt my back and surprisingly pushed my hand through a gaping hole. Everything rushed through my head. Beep! Beep! Beep! What… Uh Oh! I’m Late for school! Mom Will be so Mad!

I think I did well when I was trying to make it scary without too much creepy parts in my story. Maybe next time I could make my story with my characters nightmare being real. I can’t wait until we do our real stories! What would your story be about? Blog you Later!

Duffy Theater

Kia Ora Bloggers! This week in Te Ngahere we had a Duffy Show in our assembly. 3 actors came in and performed for us. They were playing as Duffy (The Kid) Sam (The Cousin) and Aunty (The Aunty). The show was about what effect video games can have on you. It showed Duffy and Sam Playing a game called Magic Bricks when Duffy gets to stay at Sam’s house for the week. When Duffy gets there Sam’s too interested in the game than she is in Duffy so she just keeps playing her game. Duffy gets bored so he does a little dance and gets stuck in the game. There are two characters in the game that make things hard. One is the Dismantler and the other is the Puzzler. The Dismantler destroys everything you make and the Puzzler messes up puzzles that you need to solve! I learnt from it that you shouldn’t rely on video games all the time and spend some time in reality! Here are some pictures.

I really liked the show as it was really funny even though at some times it was kind of weird and confusing. Blog you later

Martial Arts

Kia ora Bloggers! This week in Te Ngahere we have been answering questions from the All Blacks Captain Kieran Reed. Some of the questions were what is hello in Japanese (Konichiwa) & What religion are most people in Japan (Shinto). After we answered them we got to choose one question  to find out more info about. I chose to do it on Martial Arts. Here is my Presentation.

I really like how I decorated my Presentation. I didn’t struggle at all with answering the questions. Maybe next time I could choose a different question to find information on. Blog you later!

The Bear Hunt

Kia Ora Bloggers! This term in Te Ngahere we have been creating movies. All of us had to get into a group and come up with a movie. Franky, Mikaire, Mark O & I created one about a Bear Hunt. We made an animation as most of the things in our movie were to difficult to do in real life. Here is our movie.

We were learning to turn our ideas into Motion Pictures! Our teachers really liked our movie and I hope you do to! I think we did really well when trying to make it realistic.Hopefully next time we could get some more time so we don’t have to make an animation If there is anything else you would change in our movie could you please comment it down below! Thanks. Blog you later!
